Level Up Your Social Life

People always ask me, “Wait, what do you mean video games helped you level up your social life?”.

It seems counter-intuitive, right?

Many people just assume that all gamers like to sit at home playing video games all the time and are just wasting their time. But there is a lot to be learned from playing video games.

Much of the reason gamers are becoming more successful is because the thought processes and puzzle-solving skills found in video games is excellent for becoming building a career in industries like software developing, web development, data analysis, and pretty much any writing code and strategic thinking.

That is one of the ways I transformed my career and transitioned into web development. I used my love of gaming to start making my first video game website which led me into YouTube, Twitch, and now this site.

But it also goes deeper than just the technical, puzzle solving skills.

The video game industry is now taking center stage.

Many don’t realize, but the video game industry is now larger than the movie industry and Hollywood.

Twitch live streamers and YouTubers are making millions of dollars playing video games. Pro e-sports arenas are now being build with teams buying and trading players like in the NFL.

So what does this have to do with you? And how does it relate to leveling up your social life?

That is what my blogs will cover! Over the past 2-3 years, I have been testing and learning how to overcome the urge to be an introvert.

I enjoy staying inside playing video games and writing code all day but I have found ways to allow gaming to help me lead a more balanced life and I want to share those ideas with you.

While I still love to hole up for a weekend and play games like The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls, I’ve learned some tips and tricks to applying my knowledge of videos in a way that relates well to the general public who just don’t understand what it’s like to be a gamer!

Many of these blogs will focus on ways to share your love of video games more effectively. Even if you just start by sharing your love of video games online, it will soon help you branch out into improving your social life in the real world by using the same elements of community building and creating an inclusive atmosphere when holding events and meeting new people!
